Mujo

Mujo (無常) — Artwork by Kazuki Kurosawa.

Mujo is a Japanese word associated with impermanence: the understanding that nothing remains unchanged.

Intersecting black marks, bleeding color, and pale drips create a composition that seems to form and dissolve at once. The work reflects on passing time, memory, and the impulse to hold on to what cannot stay still.

While this painting begins with a particular idea, the experience of looking at it remains open to interpretation.
